An Exquisite Expedition Vessel
SV Island Solitude is our new 82’ motor-sailor launched in December, 2017. After two seasons of operations she has proven herself extremely well. Passengers love the larger cabins, heads (ensuite bathrooms) and huge wheelhouse on deck, providing a comfortable place to view the world (or watch the Captain navigate). In the evening it transforms into a dining area for the entire group and crew.
A great deal of thought and planning went into her design. We wanted a vessel that could sail well (and meet our ecotourism objectives); we needed a stable platform that would keep passengers comfortable if the weather blows up; easy access for loading into the rigid hulled inflatable boats for shore and “small boat” excursions; and above all, a state of the art vessel with all the latest safety systems, purpose built to the stringent requirements of Transport Canada.

She is the perfect vessel for sometimes challenging destinations like Haida Gwaii. The deep keel, modern design of the hull and sails make her extremely stable. Her sailing performance makes for hours of silent travel. She accommodates a group of 12 travelers in 6 roomy cabins - a perfect fit for Parks Canada requirements, which limits groups to 12 to protect the fragile environment.
A combination of design, performance, comfort and mindfulness resulted in an exquisite ship that Bluewater Adventures is proud to sail in each itinerary exploring the British Columbia coast and Southeast Alaska.
Join us in 2020 on 8 and 9-day expeditions in Haida Gwaii or for 11 days exploring Southeast Alaska for glaciers, brown bears and bubble-net feeding! Space is still available so contact us today and secure your space!
