What Sets Bluewater Apart

Discovering coastal regions by expedition yacht is a pretty unique experience and definitely the best way to immerse yourself in your surroundings. Witnessing the breach of a humpback whale or spotting a grizzly bear chasing down a salmon are moments that will take your breath away. But, there is more to how you spend your time navigating through paradise to top your “bucket-list” experience.

Bluewater Adventures has been exploring the west coast of British Columbia and Southeast Alaska for over 40 years. We have had the honor of traveling with notable scientists and well revered Haida Elders as leaders of our multi-day, discovery expeditions. Each adventure is unique featuring unforgettable opportunities to learn about cultural history and the natural world. We feel that this is an important aspect of the guest experience, adding to what each person takes away from their trip.

We are looking forward to another exceptional season in 2020 with chances to travel with some of our favourite Naturalists and Resource people. These folks take great delight in sharing their knowledge, thereby providing unscripted lessons in our "outdoor classrooms".

Into the New Year, we will be inviting ornithologists, Haida Elders, art historians, marine biologists and carvers to join us in our adventures. The Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary We welcome back Dr Barrie Gilbert to teach us about bear biology, ecology and behaviour on two of our popular, bear-focused itineraries The Northern Great Bear/ Khutzeymateen Grizzly Sanctuary on (May 31 – June 6) and Southeast Alaska aboard Bluewater's newest vessel, Island Solitude (July 27 – August 6).  See blog post | BOOK NOW

Spring in Haida Gwaii If you are an ornithophile (a person who loves birds), then check this out. Late May/ early June expeditions provide some of the best viewing with migrating sea birds flocking to Haida Gwaii in huge numbers to nest.  One such bird is called the Ancient Murrelet. They are monitored closely at Laskeek Bay Conservation Society on Limestone Island.  Biologist and Haida Gwaii local, Keith Moore, will be leading this trip (May 24 – June 6) - our Crew's favourite time of year to explore this breath-taking archipelago. | BOOK NOW
Northern Vancouver Island Adventure Our remarkable Whales, Totems & Grizzlies (August 10 – 16) itinerary, plus the Great Bear Sea (August 18 – 25) features friend and marine mammal advocate, Rob Lott.
